Check out this huge drawing in my studio at Redline, Denver through Tuesday, April 1, 2014.
This large drawing was made by a group of students/ artists during my Moxie U, collaborative drawing class Overcoming Barriers: a self-help group promoting unconventional drawing: Drawing Blind (or a collaborative project that leads to drawing as concept). We began with an introduction to materials as well as drawing methods first said to be developed by Dadaists and Surrealists. I led a group drawing session using different kinds of blindfolds, connecting apparatus, unseen hand and long sticks. I was so enamored with how each person processed, responded and then engaged with the group to come up with this result that I decided to leave it up for a couple weeks as a mini drawing exhibition.
Redline is open Tuesday through Sunday and you may find directions and information on the program here.
Very special thanks to Redline, Moxie U, Rebecca Vaughan and Susan Stites -as well as those brave and open-minded artists!
I’ve a couple seats left for my next class
